Yuval Shalson

Private Teacher - Flute and Maths

About Me

Yuval started playing the flute at the age of ten. She studied Music at City University London where she achieved a First Class Honours Bachelors Degree (2014), studying with Wissam Boustany throughout this time, and went on to completed a Post Graduate Diploma (2017) at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, studying with flute teachers Ruth Morley and Katherine Bryan, and piccolo teacher Janet Richardson. Yuval also completed her Master of Music Degree (MMus Perf) at Goldsmiths University (2019).

A keen performer, Yuval was principal flute in the London City Orchestra, one of London's leading amateur orchestras, for 3 years, performing at various prestigious venues and with many international soloists. She has performed in various competitions and masterclasses with renowned flute players from across the globe; these include Ian Clarke, Wissam Boustany, Michael Cox, Matthias Ziegler, Ruth Morley, Clare Southworth and Philippa Davies.

Yuval has taught in secondary schools in London as both a student-teacher and teacher's assistant, worked one-to-one with students with various learning difficulties (including visual impairment and those on the autistic spectrum), and is a very adaptable and invested teacher.

Yuval loves teaching, and simply wants to bring out the best in all her students!

What I Offer as a Teacher

Success in learning frequently depends on finding the right teacher; someone who has a love for the subject and understands how to inspire others. My teaching style is invested and enthusiastic, focusing on the musical as well as the technical aspects of the instrument, but also strongly emphasizing self-exploration and discovering a passion for something new. The student comes first - so I work in an adaptable manner to suit their needs.
